Common questions
How do I get to the grown-ups area?
Tap the gear at the top right of the screen, then For grown-ups. The app asks a multiplication question written in words, such as "Enter the answer: seven times six". Type the answer on the number pad and tap Continue. A wrong answer takes you back to the kid screens, and you'll get a new question next time.
How does my child choose what to practice?
On the Home screen, pick adding, taking away or both, then how big the numbers get (up to 5, 10, 20 or 30), or switch to More practice for tens and fives. Under How long?, pick 5 questions, 10 questions or a 1-minute challenge, then tap Go. The app remembers the choice for next time.
What happens when my child gets one wrong?
The app says "Not quite. Try again." and lets them try again. It never shows the answer. Facts your child misses come back in later rounds until they get them right three times in a row, and the score page offers a short round of just those facts.
What are Show me and missing-number questions?
Show me turns the question into counters in ten-frames, the counting pictures used in early-grade classrooms, so your child can count their way to the answer. Missing-number questions, like 3 + ? = 7, are turned on and off with the small switch on the question screen.
How do I reset my child's progress?
In the grown-ups area, tap Reset progress and confirm. It clears scores, history, badges, 1-minute bests and facts to practice. Your child's name and settings stay.
How do I start over completely?
In the grown-ups area, tap Erase everything and confirm. It removes the name, settings and all progress, and the app goes back to its first screen. Deleting the app does the same.
Can two children use it?
Right now Eagerly Math keeps progress for one child. If siblings share a device, their answers count together.
How do I change my child's name?
In the grown-ups area, edit the name at the top, under Child.
Will progress move to a new iPhone or iPad?
Yes, when you set up the new device from a backup of the old one, using iCloud Backup or a backup on your computer. Progress is kept on the device and in its backups, so it doesn't sync between two devices in use at the same time.
How do I turn the sounds off?
Your child can pick a right-answer sound, or No sound, in Settings (the gear). To silence every sound so it can't be turned back on by your child, turn off All sounds in the grown-ups area. Vibration has its own switch there. Sounds also stay quiet when the iPhone or iPad is in Silent mode.
How do I print a certificate?
On the score page or in All badges, tap a badge your child has earned, then Print certificate. The app asks the grown-up question first, then opens the usual iPhone or iPad print options.
Does it work on iPad, and with bigger text?
Yes. Eagerly Math works on iPhone and iPad with iOS 17 or later. Words in the app follow the text size set on the device, and VoiceOver reads the buttons and choices.
Does the app need the internet?
No. Eagerly Math works fully offline and doesn't connect to the internet. The only links out of the app, to this website and to email, are in the grown-ups area.
Does it have ads or purchases?
Eagerly Math doesn't show ads. The price is shown on its App Store page. If a paid version or upgrade is offered, payment goes through Apple, and anything bought inside the app sits behind the grown-up question, so a child can't buy anything by accident.
What grades is it for?
Kindergarten to grade 5. Kid screens use big numbers and very little text, so early readers can use it on their own.
What do you do with my child's data?
We don't collect it, and we never sell or share it. Today it stays on the device and in its backups. The privacy policy has the details.
